The Department of History offers Master’s students ten degree programs that build on the Bachelor’s degree. They are well structured yet also allow for an individual combination of courses. As a major or minor subject, the study programs can be combined in many ways and allow for interesting combinations with other fields of study.

Specialized Master’s Degree in the History of the Contemporary World (90 ECTS Credits)
The research-oriented and interdisciplinary master’s program offers exclusive courses on the history and present of the digitized, globalized world.
Master History of the Contemporary World / Zeitgeschichte
Master’s Degree in International Eastern European Studies (90 ECTS Credits)
The International Eastern European Studies degree provides in-depth knowledge of history of the present, languages, literature, and cultures of Easter Europe.
Master Internationale Osteuropastudien
Master’s Degree in Ancient History, Medieval History, Contemporary History, Eastern European History (30 ECTS Credits)
The Minor Master’s degree in history provides a deeper historical examination of specific geographical or temporal spaces. They can be combined with major programs in the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences that deal with the same space but look at it from a different perspective.
