Department of History

Welcome to the Department of History at the University of Zurich. We research and teach history through a wide range of themes and methods. This includes the history of Switzerland from the Middle Ages to the era of globalization, the history of Europe from antiquity to the present, and the history of Africa, Asia, and the USA. This expertise has grown out of our rich research traditions in Eastern European history, social and economic history, and the history of knowledge; and it takes new forms in our department-wide research groups.
