The Department of History offers a diverse, high-quality, and a clearly structured range of courses at all levels. Our department places a high value on the personal support of the students and a manageable size of courses. By collaborating with numerous nearby archives and museums, students are able to more easily conduct source-based research.
The Bachelor’s program facilitates a broad foundation in the field of history along with an introduction to the relevant methods and theories. It is possible for students to choose programs of study that emphasize specific time periods and regions. The standard program is six semesters.
The Master’s program enables an in-depth scientific examination of history and advanced study of methods and theories. It is possible for students to choose programs of study that emphasize specific time periods and regions. The degree must be completed within four semesters.
Independent scientific research is possible at the doctoral level. Considerations for supervision, acquisition of competencies, and financing need to be taken into account.
The Department of History provides prospective teachers with the historical foundations for teaching. The pedagogical-didactic training takes place at the Institute of Education.
